Scott City girls tennis, volleyball take the court on Tuesday

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Fresh off the Labor Day holiday, the Scott City girls tennis and volleyball teams took the court on Tuesday in their respective sports. Girls tennis split their varisty up with meets in Hoisington and Liberal, while volleyball went to Ulysses for a dual.

Starting with girls tennis in Hoisington, it was a competitive day for the Lady Beaver squad, taking home a third place finish. Central Plains won the meet with 25 points, while Osborne was second with 17 and Scott City had 15 points in third place. The No. 1 Doubles team of Madison Roberts/Tatum Wells finished in second place, while Malorie Cupp was fourth in No. 1 Singles, Erin Massaglia was also fourth at No. 2 Singles, and the No. 2 Doubles team of Jaiden Amerine/Tayler Koehn placed fifth.

At Liberal, the Lady Beavers placed second in a tie with Garden City. Liberal “Red” won the meet with 26 points, while Scott City and Garden City both had 17 points. Both singles players placed second, as Hailiegh Hickert was second at No. 1 Singles, Ivette Fernandez was also second at No. 2 Singles. The No. 2 Doubles team of Cally Cramer/Allison Deines was second and the No. 1 Doubles team of Ximena Garcia/Kennedy Wasinger placed third.

Up next for the varsity will be the Phillipsburg Invitational on Tuesday, September 13. 

 
Scott City volleyball traveled to Ulysses for a dual with the Lady Tigers on Tuesday night. It would be a tough night for the young Lady Beavers squad, as they fell 25-17, 25-18, 25-18 to Ulysses. They are now 3-7 on the year, and will host a triangular Thursday against Hill City and Hoxie. They’ll face Hill City at 4 pm, and Hoxie at around 6 pm at the Scott Community Events Center.
