Scott City boys, Holcomb girls claim Ness City cross country titles

Ness City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City boys and Holcomb girls took the team titles Thursday afternoon at the Ness City Invitational on a hot and breezy afternoon, held at the Ness City Country Club.

On the boys side, Scott City defeated Holcomb for the first time this year, with a team score of 47 points, while Holcomb was second with 59 and Quinter was third. Holcomb’s Brody Deniston was second place overall, and Ivan Armendariz led the Beavers with a sixth place finish.

For the girls, it was Holcomb winning the meet with 58 points, 14 better than runner-up Cimarron. Scott City was sixth and Wichita County finished in seventh. Cimarron’s Janae Fugitt finished in third place, Holcomb’s Jenna Ardery was fourth, and for Scott City, Belle Trout came away with a 13th place finish. Wichita County’s Jentri Porter was 30th.
