Bandits fall short in last-minute heartbreaker at Wichita

WICHITA–Jared Robbins scored the game-winner for Wichita with 57 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, giving the Wings a 7-6 win over Kansas Friday at Hartman Arena.

Kansas led 6-5 at the start of the fourth quarter, but Colin Lawter tied the match just over a minute and a half into the final frame. Robbins’ winner marked his second goal of the night after scoring the opener halfway through the first quarter.

The Bandits dominated in shots for the match, outshooting the Wings 25-14, including 9-3 in the first quarter. Kansas led the bulk of the night, only trailing at 1-0 and 7-6.

Diego Olivares notched two goals to lead Kansas.

The Bandits fall to 0-2 and return to action Saturday, Jan. 7 when host Colorado. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT.
