Lady Demons knocked out of sub-state with 38-32 loss at Wichita Southeast

WICHITA–Southeast forced 19 turnovers and used a balanced attack to outlast Dodge City 38-32 in the opening round of sub-state Wednesday.

Southeast got out to an 11-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, but led only 19-16 at halftime. Then Dodge City battled back to tie the game at 26 heading to the final quarter before the Buffaloes outscored the Demons 12-6 for the six point victory.

The Buffaloes racked up 17 offensive rebounds, which was a theme in their regular season win over the Demons in December. They collected 18 in that contest.

Easha Potts stood out for the Demons, finishing with 16 points and eight rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting, including 4-for-5 at the free throw line.

Becca Unruh scored 12 points, but struggled from the field, converting on just three of her 16 attempts. She finishes her career as the winningest player in Lady Demon history.

Neither team led by more than six points the whole way.

The Lady Demons finish the season 10-11.
