Garden City, KS – On a day that was long awaited and expected by many, two pillars of the Garden City Lady Buff Basketball team Amaya Gallegos and Aileen Becerril inked their letters of intent to play basketball at the next level in “The Garden” on Thursday morning.

Amaya who was a 4-year starter at Garden City and a 3-time WAC selection signed with division 2 Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma. The Hillcats will be getting one of the top-scoring point guards in Western Kansas who finished the year averaging double figures for Garden City. Gallegos felt like Rogers State afforded her the best opportunity to showcase her game right away.

Aileen, signed with Clarendon College in Clarendon, Texas to play Junior College basketball after fielding offers in her senior season, and not even knowing if she would be able to play college basketball called the opportunity a “blessing”. Becerril was a 3-year starter at GCHS and one of the top shooters in the WAC.

The two of them joined Baylen Hite on the Morning Roundup Thursday to talk about their college decision and reflect on their time playing together as Buffaloes.
