Arrest made in connection to 2021 homicide

Garden City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Garden City man was arrested Wednesday in connection to a March 2021 homicide.

According to the release from the Garden City Police Department, 39-year-old Alfonso Fajardo, faces multiple charges for his involvement in the shooting death of 32-year-old Victor Cabrera.
 
In March 2021, Officers of the Garden City Police Department were dispatched to the 1400 block of W. Fulton Street in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, Officers located Cabrera with a gunshot wound to the head. Cabrera was flown to Wichita for his injuries and later died.
 
On Wednesday, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of N. 2nd Street and arrested Fajardo in connection to the incident. Fajardo was lodged in the Finney County Jail on allegations of Second-Degree Murder, Aggravated Intimidation of a Witness, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
