“You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.” Campaign kicks off August 19

Garden City, Kan.–The Garden City Police Department will join law enforcement agencies across Kansas in a targeted effort in removing impaired drivers from the roadways as part of the “You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.” campaign.

The “You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.” campaign, occurring August 19 to September 4, is intended to remind drivers not to consume impairing substances and get behind the wheel. It is illegal to drive while impaired, yet one person is killed in a drunk driving crash every 52 minutes in the United States. Just one drink before driving can put you and others in danger because alcohol impairs thinking, reasoning, and muscle coordination. If you are driving impaired, you are not only more likely to crash, but that crash is much more likely to cause serious injury or death.

The Garden City Police Department vigorously enforces impaired driving and other traffic laws, not just during this enforcement campaign but all through the year to save lives and encourages all motorists to drive responsibly.

This activity is supported by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
