GARDEN CITY, Kan. – The Garden City Broncbusters had one of the top scorers in the Jayhawk Conference last season. This coming fall, he’ll be heading back to the Division One level.

Guard Braxton Jones announced his commitment to the University of Southern Indiana Tuesday night. Jones was third in the Jayhawk in scoring, also finishing fourth in scoring during conference play.

A division one bounce back from Hartford, Jones excelled all season for Garden City. The Monroe, New Jersey native led the Broncbusters in scoring 13 times in 2024.

Jones’ best performances came during January. The sophomore scored a career-high 33 points in a home win over Seward County. Two weeks later, Jones posted his first career triple-double in a win at Dodge City.

Jones averaged north of 23 points per game in eight appearances in January, leading GCCC to a 6-2 record.

2024 will be Southern Indiana’s third season as a division one program. The Screaming Eagles, a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, finished with an 8-24 record last season.

USI is coached by Stan Gouard, who will be in his fifth season.
