Congress Weighs How to Pay for Roads

Washington D.C. (westernkansasnews.com) The US Senate is considering a proposal for an additional 12 cent per gallon gas tax to pay for roads.  KDOT Spokesman Kirk Hutchinson on why this is being looked at.

Unlike some who feel this added tax could hurt tourism,  Jim Hanni of AAA does not share those concerns.

Are there alternatives to raising the gas tax?   Hutchinson says yes, but the options are limited.

Hutchinson says there are some stretches of road nationwide that are reaching 50 to 60 years old and are in need of repair.
