Schmidt: KBI Ready to Move Forward on Improving Amber Alert

(westernkansasnews.com) The Kansas Bureau of Investigation recently did a thorough review of the Amber Alert system in the state. State Attorney General Derek Schmidt underscored the importance of immediate response when an alert is needed.

There were a list of six recommendations that are now in the hands of the KBI on what aspects of the system need improvement.

Schmidt cited “human error” in the case just mentioned.  Some of the changes are easier to implement than others.

These changes will include an Amber Alert review for the state of Kansas each year.
