Resurfacing project to begin in Meade County

Meade County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A resurfacing project is schedule to begin this week on U.S. 54 in Meade County.

Traffic changes are scheduled to start Friday, July 14, along U.S. 54 from 1.8 miles east of the Seward/Meade county line east 14.8 miles to the west city limits of Meade.

U.S. 54 traffic will be reduced to one lane through the project area for milling and overlay work on the driving lanes and shoulders. Motorists should be aware of delays of up to 15 minutes as one-lane traffic will be directed by flaggers and a pilot car through the work zone. The lane reduction will be marked by signs and cones. U.S. 54 will be open to normal traffic when construction is not taking place.

APAC-Kansas Inc., of Hutchison, is the contractor on this $6.7 million project, which is expected to be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.
