Scott City girls fall at Garden City, golfers compete in Colby

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–This week got off to a busy start for SCHS athletics, as Monday saw the SCHS girls golf team compete at Colby, and volleyball was in Garden City for a dual on Tuesday night. 

In Colby on Monday, a warm afternoon saw two Lady Beavers compete in the Colby Invitational. Colby would win the meet as a team. Two Scott City golfers competed, as Lexi Schwindt finished 14th and Maile Depperschmidt finished 44th. Scott City will host their own meet on Thursday afternoon at 1 pm.

The Lady Beaver volleyball team went to Garden City on Tuesday for a dual with the Lady Buffaloes. It was a competitive match throughout, as Garden City would get the sweep, winning 25-16, 25-21, 25-15. Scott City went back and forth until the middle of the first set, when the Lady Buffaloes went on a run, and had a lead late in the second set, until a run by Garden City saw them win 25-21. Garden City would control the third set, winning 25-15. Scott City is 7-7, and will open GWAC play on Thursday in Cimarron against Cimarron and Holcomb.
