Katharina Friesen Wiebe

Katharina Friesen Wiebe, 70, died November 24, 2015 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. She was born on August 17, 1945 in Mexico, the daughter of Peter and Aganetha (Dyck) Friesen. 

On June 18, 1967, she married Diedrich Wiebe in Mexico. He survives. Deidrich and Katharina moved to Copeland in 2001. Katharina enjoyed cooking, sewing, baking, and canning. She loved being able to teach in daughters and daughters in law how to do many of these things. Her family remembers her gift of cooking without a recipe.  

She was a member of the Old Colony Mennonite Church of Montezuma. 

Katharina is survived by her husband, Diedrich Wiebe of Copeland; seven children, Diedrich Wiebe and wife Tina of Mexico, Aganetha Boldt and husband Ben of Canada, Peter Wiebe and wife Eva of Canada, Maria Giesbrecht and husband Peter of Copeland, Gerhard Wiebe and wife Judith of Copeland, Jacob Wiebe and wife Margaret of Canada, and Greta Neufeld and husband David of Copeland; three sisters, Margarita, Helena, and Sarah; two brothers, Jacob and Peter; and 30 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother Cornelius; three sisters, Nancy, Anna, and Elizabeth; and two granddaughters, Tina Wiebe and Tina Boldt. 

Funeral service will be held at Old Colony Mennonite Church in Montezuma on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Montezuma. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Montezuma on Friday, November 27, 2015 from noon to 8:00 PM. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
