Velma May Curtis, 91, formerly of Liberal passed away on Tuesday March 13, 2018 at the Cedars Retirement Center in McPherson, Kansas.

She was born on January 29, 1927 to Layton and Bessie (Baker) Raines at Creek County, OK.

On October 25, 1945 she married Joel C. Curtis in Oklahoma City, OK; he preceded her in death in 1992.

She attended the Buckeye School in Oilton, Oklahoma. In 1946 she and Joel moved from Noel, MO to Liberal, KS. While living in Liberal she worked many years at the Holdiay Inn. Velma was a devoted housewife and mother.
She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberal..

Velma is survived Two Sons – Joel Curtis and wife Leigh Ann , Steve Curtis and wife Leanne; Two Daughters – Lois Baker and her husband Jim, Raenola Hanson and husband Mike; Six grandchildren , ten great grandchildren and four great-great grandkids.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter Betty in 2013, two brothers and four sisters.

Viewing will be 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday March 28, 2018 at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, KS.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Fellowship Baptist Church, with Pastor Bill Prater, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
