Stevens County man arrested for murder

MOSCOW, KAN. — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office have made an arrest in the death of a 2-year old boy.

The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call to dispatch on Tuesday afternoon around 4 p.m. which caused them concern for the welfare of a young child. The Sheriff’s Office responded to the call at 2046 Road Y in Moscow. After arriving at the home, the Sheriff’s questioned the homeowner, 34-year old Mikhail Lahey, Sr. After speaking with Lahey, they searched more of the house and found a young child unresponsive. The child was identified as 2-year old Mikhail Lahey, Jr.

Shortly after the Sheriff’s found the body, they called the KBI for their assistance in the case. Lahey, Sr. was taken into custody at the scene and was booked into the Stevens County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder around 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

The investigation for the murder of Lahey, Jr. is ongoing.
