Dodge City Soccer Celebrates Regional Championship

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Three more wins for a championship and although Wichita Northwest presented more of a challenge than Junction City did two days prior, the Dodge City boys soccer team is moving on to the state quarterfinals with a 2-0 regional championship win.

The win gives the Red Demons a 16-1 record and a 15 game winning streak headed into Tuesday’s state quarterfinal game at Memorial Stadium.  Senior Leonel Lopez started the scoring 14 minutes into the match with a goal and then was followed by sophomore Francisco Cayetano’s goal.

The second half was scoreless as both teams played aggressively,  Dodge City had a number of offside penalties and had to hold strong against the Grizzlies physical style of play.
