Lady Beaver softball sweeps Goodland

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a big day for the Scott City Lady Beaver softball team, as they played host to the Goodland Cowgirls on Tuesday afternoon in GWAC play. The Lady Beavers would pick up a pair of dominating games, by winning the opener 10-0 in five innings, and closed the day out with an 8-2 win.

In game one, Scott City would jump out to a 2-0 lead after three innings. However, they would put up back to back innings of four runs, and win by run rule in the fifth inning 10-0. Cheyenne Cramer would pitch a perfect game, striking out 12 batters, and threw only 50 pitches. Peyton Gentry went 2-4 with four RBI, and Crissa Irvin drove in three runs in the opener. Ashlyn Pazdernik would have three hits. The Lady Beavers would rack up 15 hits.

Scott City picked up from where they left off in the second game, as they scored two runs in the first inning. That would hold up until the fourth, when they added three runs. The Lady Beavers added three more runs in the sixth inning to take an 8-0 lead into the seventh. Goodland would push across two runs in their final at bat to make the final 8-2. Cheyenne Cramer struck out 12, giving up two unearned runs on two hits in seven innings in the circle. She also had two home runs and drove in three runs. Malorie Cupp had two hits and two RBI in game two. 

The Lady Beavers have improved to 10-2 overall, 6-2 in GWAC play, as they will host Ellis on Friday.
