Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office investgating assault at local dairy
Hamilton County, Kan.–The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an assault that occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on January 26 at Southwest Plains Dairy in Syracuse.
According to the release, the victim, identified as 33-year-old Jose Rivas, reported being struck in the head with a heavy vehicle tow chain during a work-related dispute. The assault resulted in multiple lacerations requiring medical treatment at Hamilton County Hospital.
Two suspects, identified as 32-year-old Donis Perdomo and 26-year-old Merlin Perdomo, were named in the investigation. One suspect reportedly used the chain during the assault, while the other was reported to have possessed a metal pipe. No additional injuries were reported. The individuals fled the scene prior to the deputy’s arrival.
In the release, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says that any charges at this time are merely accusations and all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
