Semi-finals Friday for area teams for three area teams

Today is semi-final competition for three area teams.

The first game of the day is the Class 3A Girls semi-final matchup between Holcomb and Silver Lake at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. Tipoff is at 3:30 pm and you can hear the Longhorns on AM 1030/107.1 FM KBUF. If the Lady Longhorns win, they will play 4:30 pm for the state championship on Saturday, and if they lose, they’ll play at 9:30 am Saturday morning in the third place game. Their opponent will either be Halstead or Osage City.

In Class 4A, Hugoton’s Boys will take on unbeaten Rock Creek at 5:30 pm in Hutchinson. It will be aired on 106.7 KHGN. If the Eagles win, they’ll play for their third state title in the last four season at 6:30 pm on Saturday, and if they fall, they’ll play at 11 am in the third place game. They’ll face either Atchison or Baldwin on Saturday.

Also this afternoon at White Auditorium in Emporia, Bucklin will face Linn at 3:30 pm in the semi-finals of Class 1A, Division II. If they win, they’ll play either Hutchinson Central Christian or Hanover on Saturday in the championship game at 4:30 pm. A loss will send them to the third place game at 9:30 am Saturday.
