Elias Mebitil-Libert Captures National Title In 3000 Meters

The Broncbuster Track and Field team competed at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships on March 6^th-7^th2026. The men’s team finished 12^th out of 32 teams. Women finished 18^thout of 32 teams. The competition was held at Topeka, Kansas in the Sneed Indoor Facility at Washburn University.

MEN

Elias Mebitil-Libert is the NJCAA National Champion in the 3,000m!! He was previously ranked 12^th with a time of 8:22.47 and finished 1^st with a new school record and personal best time of 8:13.56. He also competed in the 1,000m placing 10^th and in the Mile placing 23^rd.

Distance Medley Relay received All-American placement and a new school record placing 6^th in the region. Runners consist of: Daniel Aboagye (1200), Landen Leonard (400), Andreas Laursen (800), and Elias Mebitil-Libert (Mile).

Daniel Aboagye received an All-American placement in the 800m placing 6^th and received All-American placement in the 1,000m with a new school record and personal best time of 2:26.44 placing 4^th.

Eyona Mangumta: Placed 15^th in the weight throw with a mark of 15.67m.

Landen Leonard: New personal best in the 800m with a time of 1:54.64 placing 19^th.

Marius Delchard: Placed 20^th in the Mile with a time of 4:18.75.

Thaddaeus Rotich: Placed 26^th in the 3,000m with a time of 8:52.25 and placed 16^th in the 5,000m with a time of 15:28.19.

Matteo Lagant: Placed 15^th in the 3,000m with a time of 8:34.40.

Travis Hollins: Placed 23^rd in the 60mH with a time of 8.63.

4x800m Relay: Placed 15^th, runners consist of: Andreas Laursen, Landen Leonard, Thaddeaus Rotich and Carson Schmidt.

WOMEN

Meryeme Mai: Received All-American placement with a new school record and personal best in the Mile with a time of 4:54.19, placing 5th. Also received All-American honors and breaking her own school record as well as a personal best in the 3,000m with a time of 9:44.3, placing 4^th. Another All-American honors in the 5,000m with a time of 17:15.93, placing 6^th.

Madyson Schreibvogel: Placed 19^th in 600m dash with a time of 1:46.03.

Reid Harvey-McKean: Placed 20^th with a personal best in the 3,000m with a time of 10:37.39.

Monifa Edwards: Placed 9^th in the shot put with a mark of 13.13m. Placed 12^th in the weight throw with a mark of 14.84m.

Halima Biggs: Placed 13^th in the High Jump with a height of 1.51m. Placed 22^nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 1.55m.

Naya Jules: Placed 15^th in the Pentathlon and having a personal best in the high jump with a height of 1.47m and a total score of 2754. She also placed 16^th in the pole vault with a height of 2.90m.

Umahan Sahin: Placed 24^th in the 3,000m with a time of 11:19.08.

Distance Medley Relay: Placed 13^rd, runners consist of: Reid Harvey-McKean (1200), Madyson Schreibvogel (400), Maritza Romero (800) and Umahan Sahin (1600).

4x800m: placed 13^th, runners consist of: Umahan Sahin, Naya Jules, Jaquelyne Gonzalez and Snegugu Mkhize.
