Garden City, KS — The Garden City Community College men’s basketball team delivered a statement performance on Wednesday night, overwhelming Colby Community College 122–71 at Conestoga Arena behind a relentless pace, suffocating defense, and a balanced scoring attack.
After a brief feeling-out stretch in the opening minutes, the Broncbusters flipped the switch with aggressive on-ball pressure and quick scoring bursts in transition. Garden City began forcing turnovers, turning defense into offense, and stretching the lead with three-pointers and rim runs. The momentum never slowed, as the Busters built a commanding 70–36 halftime advantage and continued to pour it on in the second half.
A major storyline of the night was the return of Jordan Nevill, who came back from injury and made an immediate impact, scoring 18 points while knocking down shots from the perimeter and bringing energy on both ends of the floor. His presence added another weapon to an already explosive lineup.
Zaire Lott and Xavier Johnson led the way with 20 points apiece, consistently attacking the basket and capitalizing on open looks created by Garden City’s ball movement. Johnson also provided highlights in transition and on the defensive end, while Lott controlled the glass and finished through contact.
Garden City’s depth was on full display all night. The Broncbusters finished with 69 bench points, knocked down 15 three-pointers, and scored 35 points off turnovers, showcasing the pace, pressure, and balance that has defined their season.
Other key contributors included Dasean Lewis with 12 points, and a strong all-around effort from Devonte Reed, who posted 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, anchoring both ends of the floor.
It was one of the most complete performances of the year for the Broncbusters, who controlled the game from start to finish and sent a clear message as conference play continues.
