Broncbusters Fall to No. 4 Cloud County in Home Doubleheader

Garden City, KS – The Garden City Community College Broncbusters dropped both games of a conference doubleheader against Cloud County Community College on Thursday afternoon at Williams Stadium. The nationally ranked Thunderbirds used explosive offensive innings in both contests to take the pair as Garden City falls to 7–15 overall and 1–5 in KJCCC play.
Game 1: Cloud County 15, Garden City 8
The opener featured strong offensive performances from both teams as the Broncbusters battled back multiple times before Cloud County pulled away late.
Garden City recorded 13 hits in the contest and saw production throughout the lineup. Sean Philpotts led the way with a home run and three RBI, while Sean Togher added a home run and drove in two. Aiden Wilson collected three hits and three doubles while scoring twice, and Will Togher contributed two hits and an RBI.
The Broncbusters scored runs in five different innings and held an early lead before Cloud County surged ahead with key scoring bursts in the later innings to secure the 15–8 victory.
Game 2: Cloud County 24, Garden City 1
In the nightcap, the Thunderbirds’ offense erupted early and often, using multiple big innings to pull away.
Cloud County totaled 14 hits and drew 16 walks while launching five home runs in the game. Tanner Jacobson led the offensive charge with five RBI, while Kellan Burke added four RBI and Evan Gunn drove in three.
Garden City’s lone run came when Karson Evans drove in Sean Togher, who had tripled earlier in the inning. The Broncbusters finished with two hits in the contest as Cloud County secured the 24–1 win.
Despite the results, Garden City continues conference play against one of the top teams in the country, as Cloud County entered the matchup ranked #4 in NJCAA Division I baseball.

The Broncbusters will travel to Concordia, Kansas, on Saturday, March 14 for the final two games of the four-game series against Cloud County. First pitch at Lee Doyen Field is scheduled for 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM.
