Broncbusters Force 31 Turnovers, Roll Past Independence in Dominant Conference Win

Garden City, KS — Garden City Community College women’s basketball bounced back in a big way on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Independence Community College 93–43 at Conestoga Arena behind a relentless defensive effort that turned stops into points.
The Broncbusters set the tone early and never let up, forcing 31 Independence turnovers and cashing them in for 37 points off turnovers as Garden City controlled the tempo from the opening tip.
Garden City jumped out in front with a 23–10 first quarter and blew the game open in the second, outscoring the Pirates 31–5 to take a commanding halftime lead. Even with the margin growing, the Broncbusters stayed aggressive on the defensive end, creating steals and extra possessions that kept Independence on its heels.
Offensively, Garden City got production from all over the floor, led by Sokhna Ndiaye, who delivered a dominant performance with 25 points on 9-of-11 shooting, knocking down 4-of-4 from three. Deija Roberson added 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Elektra Mjoll poured in 17 points with four triples to pace the perimeter attack.
The Broncbusters also got a strong all-around effort from Marshea Fisher, who finished with 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals, helping ignite transition chances throughout the afternoon. Garden City’s depth showed as well, winning the bench scoring battle with 41 bench points.
