Broncbusters start football season ranked inside NJCAA top 10; Jayhawk Conference starts with three inside top 15

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (Western Kansas News) – Garden City Community College Football will open the season ranked as the #7 team in the country on September 6. The NJCAA released their Division I rankings on Monday, and three Jayhawk Conference teams were ranked inside the top 15, with two more receiving votes.
NJCAA defending national champion in the Hutchinson Blue Dragons open the season ranked #1 after receiving all twelve first place votes, Garden City was ranked #7, and the Butler Grizzlies were ranked #13. Coffeyville and Dodge City missed the top 15, but received votes along with East Mississippi, East Central, Holmes, Cisco, and Itawamba.
Of note, the three ranked Jayhawk Conference teams (Region 6) tied for the second-most ranked teams in the pre-season poll with Region 23 (Northwest Mississippi Community College (#3), Copiah-Lincoln Community College (#8), and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (#10)). Region 14 (Navarro College (#4), Tyler Junior College (#9), Kilgore College (#11) and Trinity Valley College (#14)) based in Texas lead the way with four teams represented.
This marks the second year in a row that the Broncbusters start the season ranked inside the top 10. Garden City Community College will kick off their football season with a matchup against #4 Navarro College on Saturday, September 6, at 7p in Corsicana, TX. Coverage for that game will be on 99.9 The Rock, with pregame starting at 6:15p.
Dodge City (RV) and Tyler Junior College (#9) will kick off the NJCAA football season this Saturday, August 23, at 7p, with Joe Blake providing coverage on Z98, with pregame starting at 6:30p.
