Broncbusters Sweep Pratt to Improve to 5–3 in Conference

Pratt, KS – Garden City Community College softball picked up a pair of conference wins Wednesday afternoon, sweeping Pratt Community College on the road to improve to 18–12 overall and 5–3 in KJCCC play.

The Broncbusters combined for 27 runs on 29 hits across the doubleheader, using timely hitting and strong pitching performances to secure both games.

Game 1: Garden City 17, Pratt 5

Garden City broke things open late in the opener, scoring 12 runs over the final three innings to pull away from Pratt.

Danna Viera led the offensive effort with a 4-for-4 performance, driving in three runs and scoring three times. Maysen Kurene-Iwikau added four hits and three RBI, while Zoey Torres delivered a three-run home run as part of a three-RBI day.

Reagan Sword contributed two hits and two RBI, and Jade Hendrix added an RBI as the Broncbusters tallied 17 hits in the game.

In the circle, Skylah Breeze Joyce delivered a strong outing, tossing six innings and allowing just two runs while striking out nine. Ashlyn Powell closed out the final inning as Garden City secured the 17–5 victory.

Game 2: Garden City 10, Pratt 1

The Broncbusters carried that momentum into the second game, jumping out early with four runs in the first inning and never looking back.

Maysen Kurene-Iwikau continued her strong day at the plate, collecting two hits, including a home run, and scoring three times. Maiarangi Waipara drove in four runs, while Danna Viera added two RBI and Jade Hendrix chipped in one.

Averie Ashford and Izzy Foster each recorded multi-hit performances, and Garden City stayed aggressive on the bases with multiple stolen bases throughout the game.

Valeria Mandujano earned the win in the circle, tossing four scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. Zoey Torres and Samantha Torres combined in relief to limit Pratt to just two hits in the 10–1 win.

Garden City’s balanced offense and consistent pitching fueled the sweep as the Broncbusters continued to build momentum in conference play.

Next Up: The Broncbusters return home Saturday, March 21st, to host Hutchinson Community College at Tangeman Sports Complex. First pitches are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
