Garden City, KS – Garden City wrapped up the 2025-26 regular season Monday night at Conestoga Arena, falling to Coffeyville 73-53 in the finale. Despite a competitive first half, a strong third-quarter surge by the Red Ravens proved to be the difference as the Broncbusters close the regular season at 16-13 overall and 11-13 in KJCCC play.

The Busters came out aggressive to start the game. London Turner opened the scoring with a layup, and Deija Roberson followed with a smooth mid-range jumper to give Garden City an early 4-0 lead. Defensively, the Busters forced tough looks in the opening minutes, with Sokhna Ndiaye and Roberson controlling the glass early. Coffeyville answered with a pair of inside finishes and a three-pointer to swing momentum, but Garden City stayed within reach thanks to hustle plays and second-chance opportunities.

Roberson was active in the paint throughout the first quarter, scoring multiple times off offensive rebounds and finishing through contact. Elektra Mjoll added a late basket to help trim the deficit to 16-13 at the end of the first.

The second quarter was Garden City’s strongest stretch. Ndiaye found rhythm offensively, knocking down a mid-range jumper and converting at the free-throw line. Turner buried a key three-pointer off a Mjoll assist to briefly put the Busters in front. Marshea Fisher continued to impact the game beyond scoring, creating transition chances with steals and pushing tempo in the open floor. Garden City’s defensive pressure led to multiple Coffeyville turnovers, and a late three from Mjoll tied the game at 29-29 heading into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Coffeyville shifted momentum quickly. The Red Ravens opened the third quarter with a scoring burst fueled by perimeter shooting and offensive rebounds. Garden City briefly regained the lead after Mjoll knocked down a three and completed an and-one sequence, but Coffeyville responded with back-to-back threes and capitalized on extra possessions. A technical foul midway through the quarter helped extend the Red Ravens’ run, and Coffeyville closed the period on top 55-45.

In the fourth quarter, Garden City continued to battle but struggled to find consistent offensive rhythm. Coffeyville shot efficiently down the stretch and controlled the boards, limiting the Busters’ second-chance looks. Roberson and Penda added baskets inside, while Mjoll connected on another late three, but the deficit proved too much to overcome.

Statistically, Garden City finished 20-of-61 (32.8%) from the field and 5-of-20 (25%) from beyond the arc, while converting 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the free-throw line. The Busters recorded 15 assists and 10 steals, but were outrebounded 36-24, which played a major factor in the second-half separation.

Mjoll led the Busters with 18 points, shooting 6-of-11 overall and 4-of-9 from three-point range. Turner and Roberson each added 10 points, with Roberson contributing key rebounds inside. Fisher stuffed the stat sheet with 6 points, 8 assists, and 6 steals, providing consistent defensive pressure throughout the night. Ndiaye added valuable minutes inside and chipped in at the line during key stretches of the first half.

Garden City now turns its attention to postseason play. The Region VI playoffs begin Saturday, March 7, with game time and opponent to be announced.
