Chip sealing project underway in Dodge City
Dodge City, Kan.–The City of Dodge City has announced a Chip sealing project to begin Monday.
This project will take place in Maintenance Zone #2, which includes local asphalt streets in the area between Central Avenue and 14th Avenue, stretching from U.S. Highway 50 to Comanche Street, as shown on the map below. Chip sealing is a vital, cost-effective preventative maintenance method that helps extend the lifespan of our city’s roadways.
In a post on Facebook, the city lists the benefits for the projects. It establishes a new wearing surface for increased traction, seals off small cracks to prevent water damage, smooths out minor surface distresses, and seals off patched potholes.
During this project, streets in Maintenance Zone #2 will be closed for a brief amount of time as the chip seal process is conducted.
