City of Dodge City Names Jerad Goertzen as Interim Police Chief
Dodge City, Kansas–The City of Dodge City is pleased to announce the appointment of Jerad Goertzen as Interim Police Chief for the Dodge City Police Department following the recent retirement of Chief Drew Francis.
Goertzen has been with the department since 2006 bringing nearly 20 years of dedicated service and experience in a wide range of roles. Over the course of his career, he has served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, Corporal, Sergeant, Deputy Chief, and most recently as Support Services Captain.
“I am grateful for the trust placed in me, and it is truly a privilege to work alongside such a dedicated team. I am excited for the opportunity to continue serving the community as Interim Police Chief,” said Goertzen. “It is an honor to lead and support the Dodge City Police Department. I know our officers and staff will continue striving for excellence, and I am committed to doing all I can to ensure our department goes above and beyond in serving the community of Dodge City.”

Goertzen will serve as Interim Police Chief while the City of Dodge City evaluates the next steps for permanent leadership of the Dodge City Police Department. During this time, the department remains focused on providing excellent service, maintaining public safety, and strengthening community trust.
