Conquistador women’s basketball team earns at-large bid to national tournament
The Dodge City Community College women’s basketball team’s season will continue in Lake Charles, Louisiana on March 25 at 12:15 p.m. against Northwest Mississippi Community College. The Conquistadors are the No.10 seed in the tournament, with Northwest Mississippi being the No.23 seed. The winner will play No. 7 seed College of Southern Idaho on March 27.
The Conquistadors were one of eight at-large teams selected after their 69-57 Region VI semifinal loss to Hutchinson on March 13. Hutchinson was also selected as the No. 13 seed after they lost in the championship to Butler. Butler earned the No.1 seed in the national tournament after getting the automatic birth for winning the Region VI title.
The Conquistadors made it to the national semifinals last season before Shelton State beat them 60-59. They enter this year’s field with a 26-5 record.
