Pratt, KS – Garden City Community College used defensive pressure, balanced scoring, and a standout performance from Caryle Fortas to earn a convincing 67–43 road victory over Pratt Community College on Monday afternoon.

The game was physical from the opening tip, with fouls and turnovers playing a major role throughout. Both teams spent significant time at the free-throw line and struggled at times to maintain offensive rhythm. Garden City committed 23 turnovers and was assessed 24 team fouls, but the Broncbusters’ aggressive defensive approach ultimately swung the game in their favor, forcing 33 Pratt turnovers and turning those miscues into consistent scoring opportunities.

The contest opened tightly, with neither team able to establish separation early. After a back-and-forth first quarter ended tied at 13–13, Garden City began to settle in on both ends of the floor. Strong defensive rotations and active hands disrupted Pratt’s offense, while the Broncbusters started to find better flow offensively heading into halftime.

Garden City maintained control through the third quarter, using stops and transition buckets to build momentum while keeping Pratt from making a serious run. The Broncbusters then delivered their best stretch of the game in the fourth quarter, outscoring Pratt 27–10 over the final 10 minutes to turn a competitive contest into a decisive win.

Fortas led the way with a team-high 20 points, consistently attacking the basket and setting the tone offensively. She also played a key role in Garden City’s transition game and defensive pressure, helping create steals and fast-break chances that shifted momentum. Deija Roberson provided strong support with timely buckets and activity on the glass, while multiple Broncbusters contributed to the defensive effort that made life difficult for Pratt all afternoon.

The win showcased Garden City’s ability to win through effort and defensive intensity—even on a day when whistles and turnovers disrupted the flow.
