Lady Busters Fall to Hutchinson in Home Doubleheader

Garden City, KS – Garden City Community College softball dropped a pair of conference games Saturday afternoon against Hutchinson Community College at Tangeman Sports Complex, moving to 18–14 overall and 5–5 in KJCCC play.
The Broncbusters battled offensively in the opener before Hutchinson used timely hitting and big innings in both games to secure the sweep.
Game 1: Hutchinson 14, Garden City 12
The opener turned into a high-scoring battle, with both teams trading runs early and often.
Garden City matched Hutchinson early, scoring three runs in the first and four in the second to take an early lead. The Broncbusters continued to apply pressure throughout the game, tallying runs in five different innings.
Danna Viera led the offense with two hits, including a home run, and scored three times. Zoey Torres added a key three-RBI performance, while Maiarangi Waipara and Izzy Foster each drove in multiple runs.
Despite the offensive output, Hutchinson capitalized on big innings and totaled 16 hits, including three home runs, to outlast Garden City in the 14–12 decision.
Game 2: Hutchinson 12, Garden City 2
In the second game, Hutchinson took control midway through, breaking a 2–2 game open with a three-run fourth inning and continuing to add on late.
Garden City scored both of its runs in the second inning, with Reagan Sword driving in both runs. The Broncbusters recorded seven hits in the game, with Jade Hendrix and Maiarangi Waipara each collecting multi-hit performances.
Hutchinson’s pitching limited Garden City’s offense after the early innings, while the Blue Dragons added runs in the sixth and seventh to secure the 12–2 win.
