Scott City wrestling team competes in rugged Higgins Invitatational
Lexington, Neb. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City Beaver wrestling team made their annual voyage to Nebraska for the annual John Higgins Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Lexington High School.
On Friday, the girls took the mat, and had a good showing, placing in a tie for fifth place, despite missing some wrestlers in the lineup. The Lady Beavers would place seven of their 10 wrestlers, and had a third place finish from Haylie McDaniel at 110 and Dayanara Jimenez finished third at 170 pounds. Lexington would dominate the tournament, while North Platte was second.
Saturday was the day the boys took the mat. It would be a tough day, as the Beavers were missing some wrestlers in their lineup in a challenging tournament. Scott City finished in 11th place, and put five wrestlers in the medal round. Blaze Gossman had the highest finish, making the finals and finishing second at 165 pounds. Bennington would win the tournament, while Gering placed second.
