Wisconsin woman injured in Edwards County van, semi accident
Edwards County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Wisconsin woman was injured Wednesday afternoon just before 4 p.m. in a two-vehicle accident in Edwards County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2025 GMC Savana driven by 33-year-old Theresa M. Wachtendonk of Black Creek, Wisconsin, was attempting to turn west onto U.S. Highway 50/U.S. Highway 56 at the 800 block, when she pulled out in front of an eastboudn 2016 Freightliner semi driven by 58-year-old Jesus M. Marquez of El Paso, Texas. The semi would collide with the van in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 50.
Wachtendonk was taken to Edwards County Hospital for injuries sustained, while Marquez was uninjured.
Wachtendonk was wearing a seatbult, while it was unknown if Marquez was properly restrained, according to the KHP report.
