(Wichita) (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a pretty good weekend for the area teams in the Class 3A State Track & Field meet at Wichita’s Cessna Stadium Friday and Saturday. For the girls, the young Cimarron Blue Jay team came home with a fourth place finish, while the Lady Beavers of Scott City followed in fifth place. One girl from the area won a gold medal in Kelly Wycoff, who captured the 200m dash. The Lady beaver sophomore placed second in the 100m and 400m dashes, and was part of the 4x400m relay team that finished sixth.

For the boys, Scott City had a rough stretch on Saturday, as they ended up in fourth place, just one point shy of third place. The Beavers dropped the baton in the finals of the 4x100m relay, and were sitting second going into the finals. Holcomb had a solid showing by finishing sixth as a team. Their 4x400m relay team repeated as state champions.
