State News: Damage to Liberal Plant Could Top One Million
Liberal, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Fire investigators say damaged from the Arkalon plant in Liberal could reach one million dollars. No one was injured in the explosion that came from the plant around 7 pm Sunday. Firefighters battled the fire all night. Fire chief Mike Rice says three walls and side paneling were blown off in the explosion. Officials trace the cause of the accident to a combustion chamber in the corn dryer of the building.
