Jay D. Scott, 73, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.
He was born July 17, 1942 at Dodge City, the son of Prentis Raymond and Gladys Orene (Burns) Scott. A lifetime Gray County resident, he was a truck driver working for Charlie Burns, Ronnie Burns and Tim Dewey all in Cimarron until retiring. He enjoyed horses and horse racing.
On August 23, 1963 he married Alice Wendel at Raton, New Mexico.
Survivors include: his wife, Cimarron; 2 sons, Darin Scott and Guy Ray Scott and wife Angie all of Cimarron; a brother, Gary Scott and wife Jean, Goddard, Kansas; 2 sisters, Donna Stice, Las Vegas, Nevada and Shirley Dearing, Cimarron; 2 grandsons, Brandon Scott and wife Cynthia, Garden City and Anthony Scott, Cimarron; and 2 great granddaughters, Kamila and Penelope Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Darrel and Melvin Scott.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Rev. Richard Deimund officiating. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
