Buffs soccer blanked by Goddard

Goddard, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-It was something that plagued Garden City a lot last season.

Slow starts.

On Thursday, Garden City’s 20-minute lull was too much to overcome.

The Buffaloes allowed two goals in the first 30 minutes and lost to Goddard 3-0 in the second round of the Goddard Invitational.

“We waited too long to get going,” Assistant Coach Josue Negron said afterwards.

Cali Carter’s goal in the 17th minute got Goddard on the board before Mikayla Hutchinson made it 2-0 in the 31st.

And a scoring drought that lasted more than 30 minutes, Kourtnee Davis put the finishing touches on the shutout by scoring in the 65th minute.

Garden City now moves into the third-place game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
