GCHS Radio Station Reflects on a Successful Start

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) It was a big year for Garden City High School and saw the first full-time high school radio station make it on air. Instructor Jesse Bernal is pleased with all the support administration has given him to make this dream possible for students.

Bernal says the numbers are high for those participating in the program.

The Kansas Association of Broadcasters bestowed on GCHS students a record 51 awards and 18 state champions. What’s the future of broadcasting hold? Bernal believes the medium itself still plays an important role in people’s lives.

And for students that move on from his program there are options into eventually making this a career.
