Cessna: School Board Focused on Money Reserve, Teacher Shortage

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) In the wake of recent budget cuts from the state and the uncertainty that lies ahead, the school board at USD 457 in Garden City decided to be proactive at Monday night’s meeting.

District Public Information Coordinator Roy Cessna says board members also heard about the growing problem nationwide where students weigh other factors that prevent them from teaching.

Cessna says the district has come up with creative ways of reaching out to perspective teachers.  We will focus on that part of the story in a later newscast.
