Allen: City Ordinance on Marijuana Penalities Now Tied in with State Law
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Mirroring the new state law that reduces penalties for marijuana possession reclassifying a second offense from a maximum three and a half year felony sentence to one year as a misdemeanor Garden City Manager Matt Allen says the city commission need to take action at Tuesday’s meeting.
The city ordinance now bridges the gap between a first and third offense for marijuana use. State officials indicate the new laws will help with overcrowded prisons.
