Dale Eugene Davis
Dale Eugene Davis was born to Harvey and Lucille Pettijohn Davis on January 15, 1929, in Republic, Kansas. He died at the age of 87, on October 7, 2016, in Dodge City, Kansas.
Dale was the fifth of six children born to Harvey and Lucy. Dale attended Republic, schools through his Junior year, then completed his Senior year in Belleville, Kansas. He lettered in football and track. Dale worked from 1947 until his retirement in 1987 for the Rock Island, MKT, and Union Pacific railroads, taking a break from the railroad to serve in the US Navy from 1948 – 1952. He served primarily on the USS Antietam aircraft carrier.
Dale married Darlene Crown on September 30, 1955 in Lacrosse, KS. She proceeded him in death in March, 2014. They raised four children, Dana, LuAnne, Kirby, and Robin, while living in Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Dale was a hard-working man. He was truly a jack of all trades. The children’s book, My Dad Can Do Anything, could have been written about Dale Davis. He was industrious and rarely idle. Dale and Darlene enjoyed traveling, at first with their kids, then later in retirement, traveling in an RV. Dale and Darlene lived the majority of their adult lives in Mustang, OK, and attended the Mustang First Baptist Church. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings and their spouses: Violet and Bob Vance, Delmar and Marjorie Davis, Warren and Dorothy Davis, Ilene and Carol DuVal, and Iona Walker, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his children: Dana and Lesa Davis of Texas, LuAnne and Bob Nooe of Kansas, Kirby Davis of Oklahoma, and Robin and Raymond Stroud of Kansas as well as his beloved grandchildren in birth order: Rachel Davis, Gretchen Stroud, Samantha Davis, Ray Stroud, Austin Nooe, Emily and Waide Scott, Hilary Redding, Andy Davis, Katie and Rob Keeney, and Joseph Stroud; and great-grandchildren: Crikette Scott, Briar Redding, and Eoin Scott. Dale’s antics, and his witty story-telling will be missed by his family, but there is rejoicing in heaven as Dale was again united with his sweetheart Darlene. A Graveside service will be held in the Agra Cemetery, Agra, KS, on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are welcome.
