Holcomb takes two from Cimarron
The Holcomb Longhorns swept the Cimarron Bluejays. The Holcomb girls won 49-43 and moved to 3-3 on the Season. And the Holcomb boys won 57-27, making them 5-1 on the season.
The Lady Longhorns started quick in the first half and had a 9 point lead at halftime 28-19. Eboni Sapien had 8 points in the first half. Holcomb shot just 28% 17/62 and 1/9 behind the arc for 11%. They had 18 turnovers and forced 21 turnovers and were out rebounded 31-28. Cimarron never went away in this one though, they outscored the Longhorns 12-5 in the last 6 minutes of the third. Courtney Wren and Eboni Sapien went a combined 6/8 at the foul line in the fourth to help put the game away and come away with a victory. The Bluejays were led by Taylor Jantz with 16 points and 9 rebounds. The Longhorns were led by Eboni Sapien with 15 points 5/6 at the foul line, 3 rebounds, and 9 steals. With the victory over Cimarron 49-43 the Longhorns move back to .500 to end December which makes them 3-3 on the season and 0-1 in League play.
The Holcomb boys dominated Cimarron 57-27. The Longhorns jumped out early with a 20-4 lead at the end of one. The Longhorns would take a 15 point lead into half 32-17. They would then stretch it out to a 23 point lead to end the third and a 30 point lead at the end of the game 57-27 over the Bluejays. Holcomb went 15/19 in the paint and shot 24/55 for 44% tonight, the Bluejays went 10/43 for 23%. The Longhorns had 15 turnovers and only forced 16 turnovers. Holcomb did win the boards 35-15 and 10-5 on the offensive glass. Cimarron was led by Alec Coast with 8 points and 2 rebounds. The Longhorns had four players in double figures Devin Mader with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Trey Gilbert had 13 points and 8 rebounds. Kobe Dickson had 13 points and 8 rebounds. and Carter Blackburn getting his first start of the year had 17 points and 2 rebounds. The Longhorns win big over the Bluejays 57-27 and move to 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in League play.
