Cimarron, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–While rain hampered much of the region on Monday, the Class 3A Regional Golf meet in Cimarron was good to go, and the area would have a good day at the Cimarron Golf Club.
The host school Cimarron would take the regional title with a team score of 326, while Colby was the second state-qualifying school with a score of 351. Scott City placed third as a team, followed by Larned and Lakin rounding out the top five.
Cimarron would take the top two spots individually, as Joshua Weishapl shot a one-over par for score of 73, while Jayden Seabolt was second with a 77. Scott City qualified two for state, as Kale Wheeler was third and Jaden Lewis was the final regional qualifier for state with a 13th place finish with a round of 93. Southwestern Heights qualified Kaleb Scripsick, who tied for ninth.
The Class 3A State Golf meet will be held Monday & Tuesday, May 24 & 25 at Hesston Golf Course. It will be the first time that the state golf meet will be a two-day tournament.
