Beaver wrestling opens up with dual wins over Goodland

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It’s been a few years, but the Scott Community High School gymnasium saw its first wrestling competition since 2019 on Friday night, as the Beavers opened up their season with Goodland. It would also be a first, with both a girls and boys dual. It’s the first time in school history that the Lady Beavers would have a wrestling dual. Scott City would sweep the duals, with the girls winning 43-24, while the boys took down the Cowboys 50-27.

In the first-ever dual for Scott City, they would give up two weights, while Goodland was open in four weight classes. The Lady Beavers would win four and the Cowgirls won two of the head to head matches. 

On the boys side, Scott City won two of their weight classes by forfeit, and picked up seven head-to-head wins, with five wins coming by fall. Out of Goodland’s five wins, three were by fall.

In the JV matches, the Beavers and Cowboys won two matches apiece.

Scott City will take their teams to compete in the Hoxie Invitational on Saturday.
