Broncbusters Fall to Dodge City in Sunday Doubleheader

Dodge City, KS – Garden City Community College softball fell in both games of a Sunday afternoon doubleheader against Dodge City Community College at Legends Park.
The Broncbusters generated opportunities throughout the day but were unable to overcome a pair of big innings from the Conquistadors as Dodge City secured the sweep.
Game 1: Dodge City 11, Garden City 3
Garden City struck first in the opening inning, plating two runs to take an early lead. The Broncbusters added another run later in the contest, but Dodge City responded with multiple scoring innings to pull away for the victory.
Maiarangi Waipara provided the biggest swing for Garden City, launching a two-run home run and finishing with two RBI. Jade Hendrix added an RBI, while Danna Viera collected a hit and scored a run. Viera also swiped a base, and Reagan Sword added a stolen base as the Broncbusters remained aggressive on the bases.
Valeria Mandujano also recorded a hit in the game as Garden City finished with three hits overall.
Dodge City answered the early deficit with a four-run first inning before adding three runs in both the third and fourth innings. Loren Sweat led the Conquistadors offensively with a five-RBI performance as Dodge City secured the 11–3 win.
Game 2: Dodge City 9, Garden City 0
The second game remained scoreless through the first two innings before Dodge City broke the game open in the third inning with eight runs.
Garden City finished with four hits in the contest, with Jade Hendrix, Averie Ashford, Reagan Sword, and Izzy Foster each recording a base hit.
Samantha Torres started in the circle for the Broncbusters, while Maddie Scott, Ashlyn Powell, and Zoey Torres each provided relief appearances.
Despite limiting Dodge City outside of the third inning, the Conquistadors’ big frame proved decisive as they secured the 9–0 win to complete the sweep.
