USD 457 Summer Food Service Program Registration Starts Monday

The Garden City Public Schools Summer Food Service program will run from June 1^st – 25^th to provide summertime meals to children and youth at various locations around the community. Parents can look for the yellow flag for the location of the program site.  

Families with children 18 years old and under will need to register to pick up a meal at a specific site in the community.  Parents can register at the USD 457 Nutrition Services Office, 1205 Fleming Street, during regular business hours, May 18^th – 29^th.  Parents will receive a colored tag designating the site, along with how many meals they will be picking up. 

This year’s Mobile Grab and Go sites will be held Monday through Thursday. The locations and times include:

• 11:00 – 11:30 a.m. at Mary Street Apartment, 305 W. Mary Street.
• 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at First Southern Baptist Church, 2708 N. 3^rd Street.
• 12:15 – 1:00 p.m. at Garden Rapids at the Big Pool, 504 E. Maple Street. Participants need to eat their meal on-site.

There will be a Summer Kick-off held at the Finney County Library, 605 E Walnut Street, on Friday, May 29^th, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  The first 50 adults will be able to eat free at this celebration.

The Grab and Go sites include:

May 29^th – August 1^st at the Finney County Library, 605 E Walnut Street. Families can pick up a meal on Fridays and Saturdays 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. without having to register for this location on those days. The meal must be eaten on-site at this location.

There are also school sites. Food must be eaten on the campus at these sites. They include:

June 1^st – July 30^th at Horace Good Middle School from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. There will be no meals the week of June 29, 2026.

June 1^st – June 18^th at Gertrude Walker Elementary School. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 – 8:45 a.m. and Lunch will be provided from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

June 1^st – July 23^rd at Victor Ornelas Elementary School. Breakfast will be served from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. and Lunch will be provided from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

June 1^st – 25^th at Garden City High School: Breakfast from 7:45 – 9:00 a.m. and Lunch from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

Students attending summer school and participating in camps, weight lifting, and team training at the high school are exempt. 

The meals are similar to those provided during the school year, which is an entree as well as plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.

The program is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is an equal opportunity provider.

The times and locations of Mobile Grab and Go sites are subject to change during the program over the summer.
