GCCC Going Through Some Long Awaited Changes

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) While the students may have had a restful summer, Garden City Community College has been hard at work renovating several buildings allowing for more space and a cozier feel.  GCCC President Doctor Herbert Swender likes the changes.

Some of the construction will continue after the students return for fall semester.  The total amount for the renovations is a little more than three million dollars.

Among the improvements Garden City Community College are tackling this summer is a relocation of the welding facility from the John Collins vocational building to a property on Spruce Street a few steps from the new student on campus housing.

Doctor Swender says the new facility will allow more convenience for students in the program.

The college is facing one significant challenge.  Students continue to feel the crunch of finding a place to live.

President Swender on why students are attracted to GCCC.

Swender believes renovations to several on campus buildings will bring a contemporary feel and add another boost to student enrollment figures.
