Garden City, KS-Coming back to Western Kansas was always the ultimate goal. For former Holcomb volleyball star Trista Bailey, that vision was finally realized this week.
On Monday night, the school board officially approved Bailey as the new volleyball coach at Garden City High School.
“Being from this area, it means a lot to me,” Bailey said. “Garden City has a lot of good things going on right now.”
Bailey comes to Garden City from Clearwater High School, where in six seasons her team won 117 games. During that same time, she guided the Indians to a league title, a sub-state championship and a third-place finish at the state tournament in 2015.
Bailey was a standout at Holcomb High School, where she was an all-state player in volleyball and basketball. She graduated from Kansas State and has taught English for the past six years.
She was also the girls head basketball coach at Clearwater and assistant softball coach.
