Hays wins Garden City tennis invite
Garden City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–After mother nature would force the meet to be postponed on Saturday, nine schools would play in nice, but breezy conditions in the annual Garden City Invitational tennis meet, held on several courts across Garden City on Monday.
Hays would hold off Dodge City for the tournament title, while Garden City was third. Scott City would place fifth. Dodge City and Garden City would have two teams apiece. Dodge City’s “Red” team and Garden City’s “Brown” team would be their top six players.
Dodge City would get a second place finish from their doubles team of Peter Bui/Alan Vazquez, while Garden City’s Kevin Nguyen would take home a third place finish. Scott City’s doubles team of Brody Strine/Brody Stoecklein would place fifth.
The tournament was played with No. 1 and No. 2 Singles and Doubles combined, similar to regionals and state.
