Garden City, Kan. (Western Kansas News) – In a move from rival Dodge City where she spent the last 13 seasons, Garden City High School has reached an agreement with Kelley Snodgrass to take over as the new head coach for Lady Buffs basketball.
Coach Snodgrass, a Cimarron native and member of their 1998 Class 3A state championship team, compiled an overall record of 232-184 after spending six seasons as the head coach for the Holcomb Lady Longhorns (2006-12) and thirteen seasons as the head coach of the Dodge City Lady Red Demons (2012-25).
Coach Snodgrass, while clearly not a stranger to the region, has a definitive tie to Garden City as a community: she was a 2000 NJCAA Academic All-American for the GCCC Broncbusters where she was a starting guard for both years in the program.
Accustomed to winning, Coach Snodgrass has led multiple teams to state tournament appearances, taking Holcomb to a 2012 3A state tournament berth in her final season with the program. Over her time at Dodge City, she amassed a record of 148-135 and a 58-45 mark in WAC play. Of note, before departing Dodge City, she was 19-8 versus Garden City all time, but 0-2 against the Lady Buffs in the 2024-25 season.
Coach Snodgrass will take over for interim Jaymie Swedberg, who guided the Buffs to a 12-10 season after the resignation of Jacob Miller as the head coach in December.
